No matter your living situation - single family home, multi-family household, 'ohana unit, or apartment - we started our services to support residents like you.

How our residential pick-up services work:
  1. Sign up by choosing one of our plans below and filling out our sign up form.

  2. We will drop off your collection bucket with startup kit inside, typically within 1-3 days or on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day.

  3. Fill up your bucket with compostable approved items all week long. When in doubt, KEEP IT OUT - so we can reduce contamination. Contact us if you have any questions about an item.

  4. The night before your Pick-up Day you will get a reminder text to put your bucket out.

  5. On Pick-up Day we will swap your bucket for an empty, clean one.

  6. After three months, you can begin requesting finished compost to be delivered to your door.

the benefits of composting

Plant health, plant productivity, and soil health have shown to improve when compost is applied. Benefits are long lasting with studies showing organic matter still present in the soil five years after application!

Compost can improve water retention and infiltration in soil. This means saving you time and money when it comes to watering your garden or yard and preventing runoff and soil erosion.

Composting diverts organic materials such as food waste from entering the landfill. In the landfill organic materials are subjected to an anaerobic environment (lack of oxygen) where they release methane, a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.

Experience the perks of being a member with discounted rates and delivery of compost to your door.

Members

  • Compost can be requested and delivered each quarter for FREE (every three months)

  • Members accumulate one gallon each month, for each bucket in their plan

  • One gallon of compost can amend 32 sq ft of soil

  • Additional compost can be picked-up at Community Sift Days, by filling your produce sticker sheet (included in Welcome packet), or purchased and delivered

  • Discounted price for additional compost: $7/gallon; $20/three gallons; $30/five gallons

  • Pick-up for orders less than 1 cubic yard (<200 gallons) in Wailua or at the Puhi Farmers Market

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does the pick-up service work?

Simply:

1. We give you a 5-gallon bucket for your food scraps

2. You fill your bucket with food scraps

3. We pick up your bucket weekly and leave behind a clean, sanitized bucket

 

JUS LIDAT.

 

We use your scraps to create a nutrient-dense fertilizer and deliver the finished compost back to you on a quarterly basis.

 

When will I get my bucket and first pick-up?

After you sign up, we will get you your bucket during the next service day. Your first pick-up will be the following service day after you receive your bucket. Please contact us if you need your bucket sooner and we will try to accommodate.

 

When are pick-ups?

Pick-ups for the Eastside are currently on Mondays between 9am-6pm.

What if I need an extra bucket?

Pick the plan that works for your household on a regular week. If you need an extra bucket you can upgrade your membership in the Members Portal.

When will my compost be ready?

Compost is typically ready in about six months to a year. However, we are able to give our Members compost back immediately. You can begin requesting compost for the following quarter after one month of service wit us.

Members can request compost using our Compost Request Form and have it delivered to them during the next quarterly return period.

What are the months when compost will be returned?

The Quarterly Compost Return period for our compost is the first week of January, April, July, and October.

How much compost do I get back?

Through the process of decomposition, organic materials reduce to about 9-15% of their original weight and 40% of their original volume. Because we can only create compost from what we receive, we found an average volume that we can reliably return to our members each quarter. Memberships include a one gallon per month return for each bucket in your membership. One gallon of our compost can be used to cover 32 square feet of garden.
